Helping Hands Community Meal

Helping Hands Kitchen located within Walnut Memorial Baptist Church at 519 W. Byers Avenue is serving free hot nutritional meals for the community every Monday Night. Our mission is to SERVE those in need, EMPOWER the lost with the gospel truth, REACH out to the homeless, VALUE every person, and ENCOURAGE the down and out.

Since the beginning of our community meal in November of 2013, we have reached out to local churches and individuals in the community to come along beside us to help meet the needs of the less fortunate. Although over one hundred members of Walnut Memorial have signed up to serve in the kitchen, we have several different volunteer cooking teams that come in and cook and serve the meals.

We unlock the doors at 5:00 p.m. for our guests to come in for a cup of coffee and fellowship, and the meal is served around 6:00 p.m.

We also minister to the children by inviting them to join in bible activities, and we feed them a separate meal geared toward our little ones from ages 4 to 10 years old.

We are very thankful for all the support from the community and we pray God will be glorified in all that we do.

Grace and Blessings,

Tim & Sheilia Royal

The Shepherd's Hand, Inc.

The purpose for which the Corporation is formed and the business and objectives to be carried on and promoted by it; to provide necessities of life to those in need.

January of 2014, the Lord laid it upon my heart to start a clothing ministry for seniors, children and people who cannot care for themselves. In October of the same year, we started with a pole of clothes that had been thrown in a corner of the storage room at WMBC. We washed and folded them and then distributed them to the community at the Monday night (Helping Hands Soup Kitchen) community meal at WMBC.

We have volunteers that faithfully help on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of every week with The Shepherd’s Hand Ministry.

Our mission began with clothing some of the residents at the Bishop Soenneker Home. Many of our senior adults have no family to supple their simplest needs. Gradually God opened other doors of opportunity to serve. The Boulware Center, Saint Benedicts, Friends of Sinners, The Homeless Resource Fair, Teen Challenge (Dixon, KY), The Warm Center, In His Name Ministry (this ministry delivers clothes to Eastern KY.), Working Hands (currently developing their own clothing ministry), Riverside Manor Nursing facility, and elementary school, Monday night community dinners at WMBC and individuals that are homeless or in need. We are a Red Cross contact ministry for fires and for disaster relief.
